| Review of Seventeen Video:
How great it would be to be young again. I know, I can have repeated fantasies of being able to get some hot to trot young filly. The reality is that I am not young anymore, I don't know what a Jadakiss is, and I'll never be cool again. That is kind of depressing, but not as depressing as trying to navigate around a Myspace page. I never in the world thought I could find something busier and more poorly organized than a bad porn site. Then I went to MySpace. Ugh, it's like a headache and an enema all at the same time!
Seventeen Video is a site that has a focus on young girls in porn. This site is absolutely similar to the DVD compilation sites you see on the net, where you get previously available DVDs downloadable. Not original content, but they never promise you originality, they promise you sheer bulk and quality. I was kind of surprised to see Seventeen Video end up being a site like this. I've always said that it would be nice to see sites like this section off into different genres and offer more diverse content. I haven't run across it too much, but Seventeen Video does just that.
When you sign into Seventeen Video, you get a pretty nicely organized page which in the main frame features the latest updates as well as the updates coming soon. For the latest updates, you get the DVD cover and three tiny thumbnails. For the upcoming, you only get the cover. The left side bar features the titles of all the DVDs available on the site, and you pick your content through the titles. That is about it for the front page, it is effective, easy, and compact. It doesn't let off a lot of previews, that is its only big weakness.
The videos obviously are the forefront of attention here. In fact, there aren't any pictures at all here save for the few preview thumbnails you get. When you click into a movie set from the front page, you get the box covers of each sequel in the set, and a couple of smaller thumbnails. If you click into the sequel title you want, you get one thumbnail for each segment of video. There are text links to download the WMV right there next to the segment thumbnail. There can be up to 18 segments per video. Your download options are full, high, and low. Some videos do not have the "full" quality option.
It's time for me to turn the complain box on, and start talking about my least favorite part of the site. It is the segmenting of the videos. First, let me say that this is not an anti-segmenting rant, just read it. First of all, you have a full porn video, which may have up to 8 scenes in it. The problem is, they don't list the scenes seperately on the site. Some you can tell where the scenes are different from the thumbnails, and some you can't. Furthermore, most of the scenes are split into two or more segments. It is pretty standard on sites like this to at least have one segment for ever scene. On top of that, the previewing is weak in the first place. So not only can you not tell if you want the scene or not, it's hard to see if you are even downloading the right segments for something that does look good. Finally, 18 segments for a video is a little excessive as well. I mean, comparable sites have one segment per scene, which at the most can be nine or ten segments, and that is much better organized.
When you download, the actual quality of the videos is pretty decent. Keep in mind the full quality is not available for all movies. That said, the high quality which is sort of the middle quality in some cases, is pretty good. It's not perfect, and if you are big on quality this is probably a notch below the best, it's still pretty good. You can full screen the videos pretty good, with a little loss of quality and pixelation. I guess the best summation would be, not perfect, not terrible. There is the full quality available for some videos as well so I'm sure that is better, but since it's not available for everything, it's harder to review for it.
It should be also noted that most of these are not the videos you see on similar DVD archive sites. They are pretty different titles, and as the name might point out, many of them are from the "Seventeen" video series. They were rather unique to me, so I don't want anybody to dismiss this for that particular reason.
The girls here fit the teen model very well. This is a Euroteen type of site, so expect that. The girls look younger, and it's not full of phonies or obvious porn stars as well. The video action and quality changes quite a bit from video to video. Some of the videos are obviously aged a bit, so they look a bit older and aged. Some also look newer, it's a nice mixture. The action is basically straight sex with solo and lesbian stuff as well. There is nothing too drastic here, but there doesn't have to be, the theme is pretty basic as is the porn, but still good.
At the time of review, there were over 40 different video series. Within those series, there are several DVD titles being sequels, and within those sequels, there are many sets. Therefore, there is enough content here to keep you happy for a while, but it is hard to give you an exact number. It is definitely sufficient. The site is updated weekly with a new sequel or series, so the content will continue rolling in at a slower pace after you get through the initial downloading of the site.
Conclusion
I like the idea of the site, and they had the basics all very much in line with where they should be. The biggest hiccup is the segmenting and previewing of the videos. That is where the site takes a major fall, and it is recoverable, but it's not ideal by any means. Everything else is pretty good with a big library, but the sites biggest fault makes it harder to enjoy in my eyes.
